Most likely, it is a healthy animal that feeds more often than usual due to the demands of its young. Noisemakers such as propane cannons, radios, and recordings can convince foxes to move a cave.
However, they are generally not effective in preventing the looting of farm animals. Foxes are much smaller than many people think. They are about as heavy as a domestic cat (10-12 lbs). The possession limit is twice as high as the daily bag limit, except for migratory birds and except on opening day. These are relatively small predators that usually hunt mice. Opossum can be taken during raccoon hunting season. Night is defined as a 24-hour period that begins at sunset. Cage traps can be effective in catching young foxes. Set the trap near the entrance to the cave. Electronic calls, mouth calls, or other types of game or predator calls can be used in fox hunting. Mechanical/electronic baits can also be used.
Both types of foxes found in Tennessee can be found throughout the state, but the red fox is much more common around the world than the gray fox. Feed pets indoors. All food left outside should be removed before night. Also bring pet food. Enter the chicken coop or chicken yard (or turkey, duck or goose).
