The following courses are mandatory from 2020 for the class of 2022. Regardless of your major, you must have met the following prerequisites before your first day of medical school. The new requirements are intended to better prepare students for the strict programs of the medical school. are accepted, however, applicants must receive the equivalent of a U.S. loan. The admissions committee reviews all courses taken at the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate levels. Applicants must have passed the MCAT exam within four years of their expected enrolment in medical school. To be considered for admission to the 2022 entry class, applicants must have completed the MCAT between January 2018 and September 2021. The college has set a minimum score of 495 for the MCAT.
All MCAT results are visible to the Admissions Committee and will be taken into account. AAMC Fee Assistance Program: The AAMC Fee Assistance Program is available to those who require financial assistance for application fees, MCAT costs and other costs associated with admission to medical school. *We accept passed/failed courses taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, whether you are enrolled or whether your current university has passed or failed or not. A Pass grade is required to accept the course. Requirements can be processed at the time of application. The MD Admissions Committee reserves the right to determine which courses meet the requirements of the program. Applicants must receive a grade of C or higher for all required prerequisite courses. Substitutions for pre-medical scientific requirements may only be authorised if they are replaced by advanced work in the same field. Applicants will receive credits for each mandatory course in spring 2020 for which they will receive a “pass” according to a pass/fail grading system. A year is defined as a minimum of 32 weeks, including two (2) semesters or three (3) semesters of coursework.
All science courses applied to premedical requirements must include laboratory work, with the exception of organic chemistry. AP and IB credits can be used to meet required course requirements, with the exception of biology, provided the credit grade is assigned by your undergraduate institution and published on your transcript. If lab credits have been issued by your institution through AP/IB credits, this must be explicitly stated on your transcript. If your undergraduate institution has accepted AP or IB biology credits, two advanced biology courses with labs are required to meet the requirements. ULSOM does not accept CLEP credits for compulsory courses. Courses in allied health schools (such as pharmacy, nursing, optometry, medicine, etc.) do not meet pre-medical scientific requirements. Courses taken at non-accredited institutions will not be accepted. Applicants who have been expelled from other medical schools for educational or disciplinary reasons will not be considered. A bachelor`s degree is required for all accepted students to enroll in the fall. All applicants should expect to receive their bachelor`s degree before the scheduled registration date. If a bachelor`s degree is earned outside of the United States or Canada, there are hourly requirements that must be met to enroll.
AMCAS does not review the performance of international courses, so all required courses must be taken at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada. Leadership experiences may include positions of responsibility for others through employment, school, religious groups, associations, or community service.
